Aviation – Flight Operations (Cabin Crew)

This course is specifically designed for those seeking an exciting career with an airline as a cabin crew member (flight attendant). This course has been developed in conjunction with commercial airlines and experienced cabin crew training managers to meet current aviation standards and it will thoroughly prepare students to be successful in the airline industry.

Using Polytechnic West’s static Boeing 737 aircraft at the Jandakot Campus for most of your practical training, your students will receive hands-on instruction in the full-length cabin.

Students must complete a total number of 21 core units. Core units are:

– Carry out basic workplace calculations

– Complete workplace orientation/induction procedures

– Provide responsible service of alcohol (unit drawn from a relevant CI qualification as per packaging)

– Follow occupational health and safety procedures

– Participate in basic workplace communication

– Maintain basic situation awareness in the aviation workplace

– Work effectively with others

– Provide transport services to passengers with special needs

– Apply fatigue management strategies

– Carry out beverage service on an aircraft

– Provide customer service on an aircraft

– Apply first aid

– Process workplace documents

– Operate firefighting equipment

– Provide quality customer service

– Maintain the safety of people and aircraft

– Manage and carry out pre and post flight cabin checks

– Manage disruptive and/or unlawful behaviour

– Respond to abnormal and emergency situations within the aircraft

– Apply knowledge of the structure, products and services of the airline operator

– Conduct induction process

Admission requirements

–        An IELTS score (academic) of 5.5 with no band score less than 5.0 or equivalent is required.

–        Equivalent to Australian Year 10 is required for entry into this course

Pleasenote that 18 years is the minimum age for most airlines for recruitment of staff due to theResponsible Service of Alcohol certification. Students should also be fit and healthy and able to swim a  minimum of 25 meters in order to successfully complete the airlines emergency procedure training.
