Designed to introduce the knowledge, skills and values that promote quality care, this nationally accredited course/qualification enables you to perform a range of duties as a personal carer within the community and in residential aged care facilities.
Topics:
Students cover topics of study including dementia care, workplace health and safety, working with culturally diverse clients and providing support services to a wide range of clients.
Career prospects:
The successful completion of the Certificate III in Aged Care is the entry level requirement for employment in the aged care industry.
Students can gain employment as an Assistant in Nursing Aged Care or personal care worker.
Successful students of this program will have the acquired skills and knowledge to enable them to work in a variety of institutions such as Nursing Homes, Hostels, Retirement Villages, Hospitals, Community Centres and in private homes with a registered agency.
On successful completion of this course, students may consider further study at a higher tertiary level within the vocational education and training sector.
Hours of study:
As an international student it is compulsory for you to attend the International Student Orientation where you will be provided with information about attendance/performance requirements and be provided with an InternationalStudent Handbook, TAFE Queensland Student Rules and various other handouts. The staff at TAFE QueenslandGold Coast would like you to join us after the International Student Orientation for light refreshments.
This is an 18 week blended program incorporating face-to-face classes at Southport and self-directed study.
Vocational Placement
The vocational placement requirement for this program is a minimum of 80 hours. Participation in this workplace experience occurs towards the end of the course and is scheduled in consultation with students and facilities.
In accordance with industry expectation and availability of places, students must be available.
Entry requirements
Enrolment is dependent upon candidates meeting pre-entry criteria, as follows:
Overseas candidates require English language proficiency 5.5 Academic IELTS or equivalent.
Students must be able to obtain the below noted compulsory paperwork.
Students will require a First Aid Certificate prior to commencing vocational placement (included in course).

Vocational Placement
Student details are provided to Health Care and Community Service organisations for the purposes of vocational placement. Vocational placement is a core element of this program and therefore it is a condition of enrolment that you consent to the release of your information accordingly.
