BARISTA COURSE at BROWNS ENGLISH LANGUAGE SCHOOL

Students who complete our Barista in BROWNS course will now also receive the RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certificate. The RSA certificate is nationally recognised and a compulsory requirement for anyone working in an environment where alcohol is available for purchase.

By including this certificate in our course, students won’t need to spend additional money or time in preparation for the RSA exam
Learn to be a barista!

The Barista in  BROWNS course has been developed to better meet the needs of students who want to increase their chances of employment and improve their intercultural competence and English Language skills.

This course is ideal for international students on Student and Working Holiday visas who intend to improve their language and workplace skills to a point where they can function effectively as baristas and thus sustain themselves during their temporary visit to Australia or while studying full-time.
Tourist visa holders are welcome to join this course, however they are not eligible to work in Australia.

Course Description:
5 weeks
30 contact hours per week
20 hours per week of English language skills and knowledge development in four key areas:
Context-specific vocabulary
Oral and written communication skills
Interpersonal skills
Intercultural skills

10 hours per week training from qualified and experienced VET trainers for two units of competency from the Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package

SITXFSA101 – Use hygienic practice for food safety
SITHFAB204 – Prepare and serve espresso coffee

Material: Students will be provided with material designed in-house and taken from a range of external sources.
BROWNS Barista uniform is also provided for the practical components.

Please note: it is a requirement that students must wear closed shoes during the practical component of this course.

Timetable: Monday to Friday – 8:20am to 3:30pm
Entry requirements: Students must demonstrate a minimum of B1 (Pre-Intermediate) level of English language ability.
