ICTE – Initiatives 2016
In 2016, the Institute of Continuing & TESOL Education at The University of Queensland (ICTE-UQ) will introduce a number of exciting initiatives to re-energise and improve our already award-winning teaching methodology, course delivery and student learning experience.
ICTE-UQ has experienced significant growth in recent years and to be able to continue to grow sustainably we are investing in our people, programs, resources, and capacity. Currently, we are updating our curriculum for 2016, ensuring students have access to high quality resources and independent learning opportunities.
Three key initiatives that will be introduced in 2016 for all our English language programs include
– an innovative SKILL-UP directed independent learning curriculum,
– an expanded dual session timetable, and
– the integration of contemporary English language textbooks for the majority of our courses.
These initiatives will ensure that ICTE-UQ continues to be at the forefront of teaching methodology and provides the highest student learning experience possible. The initiatives will enable the Institute to continue to grow and to expand our already strong collaborative partnership, and to enhance the English language learning opportunities and greater flexibility for your students.
SKILL-UP curriculum
SKILL-UP is a directed program (5 hours per week) of independent learning curriculum for students. The new SKILL-UP curriculum will include student material accessed online and will have exercises that match a student’s course, level and learning requirements. SKILL-UP will provide students with the opportunity to consolidate and advance on their classroom learning outcomes at their own pace. SKILL-UP will provide students with the flexibility to target and extend the skills that they wish to develop.
Dual session timetable
We will introduce a dual session timetable so that all of our students are taught in our world-class purpose built facilities with easy access to essential student support services and resources. The dual session timetable will enable the Institute to continue to expand into the future and support a greater number of students and participants across all ICTE-UQ programs.
All ICTE-UQ English language courses will comprise of 25 hours per week including 20 hours face-to-face classroom tuition and 5 hours of SKILL-UP.
